Uzbekistan to chair CIS Space Council in 2024-2025
Uzbekistan, Tashkent – Podrobno.uz News Agency. Director of the Uzbekcosmos Agency Shukhrat Kadirov has become the Chairman of the CIS Interstate Space Council in 2024-2025, a Podrobno.uz correspondent reports.He was elected at the Fifth Meeting of the CIS Interstate Space Council, which opened today in Tashkent. The meeting participants unanimously supported the candidacy of the head of Uzbekcosmos.
In accordance with regulatory documents, the chairmanship of the council is carried out in turn by each CIS country in alphabetical order. In 2023-2024, Tajikistan was the chairman of this structure of the commonwealth.
"I would like to propose taking our cooperation in the field of space education to a qualitatively new level and initiating the implementation of joint projects to improve the qualifications of young specialists," Kadirov said.
The head of Uzbekcosmos also noted that the council will soon face ambitious tasks to develop space activities, coordinate efforts within the UN and further deepen cooperation in the field of space technologies.
Recall that in August of this year, Uzbekistan announced its accession to the 1967 Treaty on the Exploration and Use of Outer Space.
