The President ordered the creation of the Center for Artificial Intelligence Technologies

The President instructed to develop a strategy for the implementation of artificial intelligence and a two-year program of projects, a Podrobno.uz correspondent reports.On August 13, Shavkat Mirziyoyev familiarized himself with a presentation on measures to develop artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and startups in the IT sector.
At the meeting, it was noted that information technologies are rapidly developing in our country and are being implemented in all areas. As a result, over the past period of this year alone, the volume of digital services exceeded 21 trillion soums, and by the end of the year it is expected to reach 43 trillion soums. The export of services in the sector amounted to 367 million dollars. The number of IT Park residents increased by 577 and exceeded 2 thousand. The number of young people working in them reached 32 thousand.
Successes in the use of AI were noted. These are the My ID and UzFace solutions, which have been implemented in more than 70 organizations, banks, marketplaces and payment systems, and the ability to remotely identify 10 million users with biometrics has been created. Uzbekcosmos has identified about 43 thousand cases of illegal use of mineral resources and unauthorized construction using AI.
The meeting considered measures to develop AI technologies in healthcare, agriculture, banking, tax and customs spheres.
It was noted that, first of all, it is necessary to create a legislative framework for AI, an AI implementation strategy and a two-year program of projects. It was instructed to create an AI Technology Center.
Currently, AI personnel are being trained at four universities. There is a need for 600 specialists in big data processing and language models. This number will increase several times in the coming years. Given this, the importance of training specialists who meet the needs of industries was emphasized.
It was said at the meeting that all leading IT companies in the world started their activities with a startup. We are also taking our first steps in this direction. Last year, the volume of venture investments attracted to such projects amounted to 134 million dollars. The head of state emphasized that the time has come to create broad conditions for venture investments to finance startup projects. In this regard, instructions were given to develop a startup ecosystem and implement venture financing mechanisms.
Recall that Mark Zuckerberg said that in the future there will be more AI agents than people.
