Aripov: Satellite Internet will be launched in Uzbekistan in 2026

Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov at the Digital Qazaqstan 2026 international forum in Shymkent announced plans for the development of the country’s digital infrastructure.

One of the key initiativeswill becomelaunch of satellite Internet in test mode, scheduled for 2026. The project is designed to solve the problem of communication in hard-to-reach areas of the republic. A package of tax incentives has already been created for operators in this sector.

Over the past nine years, Uzbekistan has demonstrated significant growth in the technology sector. Broadband Internet coverage increased from 41% to 99.5%, and network capacity increased 40 times. Consolidation of e-government systems in a single data center made it possible to reduce budget costs by 30%. The creation of a large computing cluster to deploy a national artificial intelligence infrastructure is currently being completed.

A portfolio of 100 promising projects in the field of AI is in the active implementation phase. An example of the implementation of smart solutions was the new copper processing plant No. 3 of AGMK, where a digital circuit combines more than 60 systems and 20 thousand sensors to analyze the production chain in real time. For the systematic development of the industry, the Alliance of Artificial Intelligence was created and 19 scientific and educational laboratories were opened.

The startup ecosystem of Uzbekistan is also demonstrating significant dynamics. Today, there are 800 startups operating in the country, 60 of which export their services. The total capital of venture funds is close to $350 million. The value of the entire ecosystem has reached $4 billion, up from $1 million ten years ago. According to the World Bank, Uzbekistan took 9th place in the world ranking of digital maturity of public administration.
